Worship is adoration. Any way you look at it, we all worship. We all love something. For most of us, our lives are being spent in adoration of something. Where are you spending your life? If someone simply observed how you’re spending your time, calculating how you actually disperse your minutes in a day, what would their calculations say? Would the calculations show that your life is being leveraged for a company, for your kids, into a relationship, or would it demonstrate that your life is being spent in adoration of Jesus? Life is demanding; there’s no doubt about that. You’ve got to eat, breathe, and sleep. There’s no doubt you will benefit from being a part of a community of redemption and engaging in healthy relationships. You certainly can’t exist in a healthy way without some sort of personal interaction. Life takes effort. It doesn’t just happen. We all consciously make decisions everyday which impact how our time is being leveraged. With all I have to do to live, how then, do can we spend our lives in adoration of Jesus? Worship is the act of taking everything and bringing it “in Christ”. Our church is currently studying the book of Ephesians. In the first three chapters of Ephesians, the Apostle Paul uses this phrase over ten times. He continually hammers home the fact that life is not meant to be lived autonomously; life is meant to be lived “in Christ”. Worship happens when whatever you do, you do it “in Christ”.
